Ruby in the Rhododendrons

Ruby Becomes One
Of the Rhododendrons

Eureka's rhododendrons have gone to Ruby's head. First she watched the Rhododendron Parade; then suddenly she realized that she was surrounded by amazing, breath-taking heaps of red, pink and yellow flowers.

How could she not attempt to be a rhododendron? What bully girl could resist merging with the flowers?

Perhaps after the blooming season is over, I will be able to spot Ruby again. For now, however, I am not sure if I am looking at the rhododendrons, at the Rubester, or at both!

What a beautiful set of pictures with Ruby and the rhododendrons. Ours here in VA are just starting to bloom and adding color at the edges of the woods.

It's amazing the degree of nature's beauty we can experience once we leave Southern California.

Keep up the good work, Joe. I love your blog and pictures and wish I could say Virginia would soon go the way of Iowa...but when I think of that I shake my head and try to control my use of the 4+ letter descriptives I've used over the 6 years we've been here.

BTW..do you remember Lamar? He's getting his Masters in Women's Studies this next weekend at GWU. We will make the trek from our rural home to the big streets of DC.

Hi Joe,
The pictures of Ruby are wonderful. Neither of you take a bad picture. I think Ruby is a little more modest.
Love,
Don

Dara, of course I remember Lamar. That's exciting that's he's getting his Master's in Women's Studies. Give him my congratulations.

Virginia needed you. You added a compassionate, progressive voice to the state. With just a few more people like you and your family members, things will finally turn around!
